Pastor Attacks Cut Radio Talk

A Lutheran minister's radio speech condemning fomentation of the war spirit in the United States, cut off the air Sunday by Station CKLW, was denounced Monday by the Rev. H. J. Storm, pastor of Windsor's First Lutheran Church.

"The congregations of all Lutheran churches in Canada sing 'God Save the King' at all services," the Rev. Storm said, "and they all mean it."

The minister cut off the air was the Rev. Walter A. Maier, of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis Mo.

He was broadcasting at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, from St Louis over a nationwide hookup of the Mutual Broadcasting Svstem when J. E. Campeau, managing director of CKLW, serving Canada, ordered him off that station.

"It was the feeling of the management," Campeau said, "that the statements being made warranted our action. We are held responsible by the Canadian Censorship Board for what goes out over the air from this station, and our orders are that anything doubtful be cut off, especially when no script is submitted in advance."
